Travel experts are warning hotel quarantine plans for arrivals in the UK could kill off Brits' hopes of holidays abroad. Boris Johnson says the Government is “definitely looking at” the possibility of travellers arriving in the UK being required to quarantine in hotels.
Industry leaders are speculating inbound travellers will have to pay fees toward their own quarantine, following in the lead of Australia and New Zealand.
The systems in both countries are heavily-restricted and require their governments to organise complex booking and security systems.
The cost of 14 days in quarantine for an adult is set at approximately £1,690 in Australia and £1,630 in New Zealand. Mr Johnson has not ruled out a similar hotel quarantine system in the UK
