Hospitals are in chaos after declaring an extraordinary 'critical' incident after flooding wreaked havoc across the capital.
The flash floods across London saw more than double July's average monthly rainfall fall in the space of a few hours. Cars were left stranded in rising floodwater, Tube stations had to be shut and hospital emergency departments were flooded in the deluge.
London hospitals declared critical incidents as a result of the relentless downpour, reports ITV. It is claimed that extra staff are having to be called in to help mitigate the crisis.
Whipps Cross said on social media it had suffered "operational issues due to the heavy rainfall", and asked patients to seek an alternative A&E if possible.
