Punchestown punters were stunned by such a huge upset in the first race of the day, which etched the steed's name in sport's history books.Sawbuck's success saw him match the record set by He Knows No Fear, who won the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Leopardstown in August 2020 at the same price.
That feat was arguably the more impressive, however, considering it was only his second race at three years of age at the time.Jockey Charlie O'Dwyer will care little for such details following by far the most significant win of his career to date, however.
Tuesday's win was just the fourth of his racing career to date, while the €7,375 (£6,300) first-place prize purse more than doubled the race winnings he's accrued thus far in 2022.The victory was also made more special by the fact Sawbuck is trained by his father, Conor.
