Naga Munchetty was so horrified at some of the nation’s spelling mistakes she interrupted a guest in disgust on her BBC Radio 5 Live show.
The 46-year-old – who also hosts BBC Breakfast – had welcomed spelling expert Stephen Linstead onto the show to discuss the International Congress of Spelling’s call for a new way of spelling.
It comes after new research found that many children finish school without adequate spelling because many words are not phonetic.Stephen used an example of a problem word with “enough”.But Naga quickly interrupted him, asking: “Sorry, Stephen, how is enough going to be spelt?”He explained it would probably be spelt “e-n-u-f-f”, much to Naga’s horror.“Oh no,” she gasped. “Oh no!
