When two newlyweds decided to spend their honeymoon in an idyllic forest clearing, it was set to be the trip of a lifetime with friends and family.
But, just hours after setting up camp, the bride was rushed to hospital when shrapnel ripped at her body and killed her younger brother after detonating a buried WWI bomb underneath the campfire.
Norbert Varga, 43, and Lidiia Makarchuk, 31, from Berkshire, were married at a church in Binfield over the summer but delayed their honeymoon until September so they could visit Lidiia’s native Ukraine.
