Homes Under The Hammer star Martin Robers has described how he had to be rushed to hospital with chest pains and undergo surgery with just “hours to live”.
The telly star thought he was suffering a heart attack after returning from a gruelling two-day “mercy dash” to take supplies to Ukraine.
Martin, 58, is still in hospital after it emerged the chest pains were actually a cardiac tamponade - when extra fluids build up around the heart adding pressure to it.
He said that doctors had to push an eight-inch needle into his chest to drain the fluid - while he was still awake. Speaking to him in his hospital bed, GMB’s Richard Madeley said: “I have to say to you Martin, when Susanna and I spoke to you when you were in Medyka about a month ago, we spoke after the show and we were a bit concerned about you.“You had driven pretty much non-stop across Europe to get there, and although you gave a very good account of yourself you looked exhausted.“You then came home and this terrible health crisis just suddenly fell out of a clear blue sky.”Martin said that he started to feel poorly over Easter.
