Holiday lodge plans approved for 'Scotland in miniature' as demand for self-catering accommodation becomes 'exceptional'

Plans to construct a holiday lodge on Arran have been approved.The two-bedroom building is to be constructed on Margenaish Farm, on the south-east of the popular Ayrshire island.Hailed as 'Scotland in miniature', demand for self-catering holiday accommodation on Arran is "exceptional" according to the applicant.Robert Miller lodged the plans for his farm that's been in his family for almost 100 years.Mr Miller says that it's becoming "increasingly difficult to run a viable farm on Arran" and he wants to diversify into the tourism sector to provide a reliable income stream, a supporting statement says.The site near the village of Kildonan offers seclusion and "superb" views of the countryside.The Ayrshire Live app is available to download
