iPhone feature can tell you how safe and steady you are on your feet—and even if you're at risk of a hard fall in the next twelve months. It's one of many Apple Health features which use a combination of biometrics (digital body tracking) and predictive analytics (AI) to warn you of 'disease or injury'.The feature, called Walking Steadiness, can be found within the Apple Health app.
It tracks your movement as you carry your iPhone around to estimate your stability, and could be a lifesaver for the elderly or injured when they take a little tumble. On the app, Apple explains: "This is an estimate of your stability while walking.
Your steadiness is also related to your fall risk.""As steadiness goes down, your risk of falling goes up. Walking Steadiness is not an indication of how likely you are to fall in any given moment, but an overall sense of fall risk in the next 12 months."You can set up Walking Steadiness notifications to inform you when your steadiness is 'low' or 'very low'.
If you get a notification, it could be time to check in with a doctor. The app uses AI to track your walking speed, step count, and even walking posture and asymmetry which could be a telltale sign of disease or injury.
