Hero soldier who foiled terror attack designs his own gun for the SAS

SAS veteran who rescued civilians from a hotel terrorist attack has designed his own combat pistol.War hero Christian Craighead, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, based the ZEV Technologies OZ9 Craighead on his military and combat experience.

The 46-year-old said: “The first time I shot someone in combat was with a pistol so I know the importance of having a reliable side arm.” The compact semi-automatic pistol, which can be fitted with both a light and a silencer, costs around £1,500.

It is understood it will be tested by British special forces in the next few weeks. A source said: “What makes this very special is that it has been designed by someone who has actually used a pistol in battle.” The ex-soldier came to the world’s attention in 2019 during a terrorist attack on a hotel complex in Kenya, repeatedly going into the hotel to rescue civilians and kill terrorists, earning him a gallantry award.
