A mum who drowned after she jumped into the sea to rescue her son and his friend has been named locally as Danielle Chilvers.

The 37-year-old tragically died after witnesses said she spotted that the boys had got into difficulty in a sea kayak off the coast in Norfolk yesterday.

Danielle was better known as Dani and is believed to have lived in Norwich. Witnesses pulled Dani from the water and tried to resuscitate her before paramedics arrived but she was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.

The boys in the kayak were brought safely back to shore by holidaymakers. Dani was staying with her son, who is believed to be aged around 14, at the Poplar Farm campsite beside the sand dunes at Waxham.
