For many, it would have been their first participation in a top-tier overseas festival for nearly two years.But the Omicron variant has upended those dreams. And, except for those folks with a film playing in the festival, most have stayed at home.

Following WarnerMedia‘s controversial day-and-date release model, which will see all 17 of their films in 2021 dropping on both HBO Max and in theaters at the same time, Paramount Pictures will attempt to shorten their theatrical window for upcoming sequels such as Christopher McQuarrie‘s “Mission: Impossible 7” and John Krasinski‘s “A Quiet Place Part II.” According to Deadline, the pair of blockbusters will be dropped on their streaming service Paramount+ after spending 45-days in theaters.

Paramount+ is quickly becoming a destination for great content and the new streaming service will be the home of two exciting movies that are going to theaters later this year.

In a clear sign that Paramount is committed to theatrical, but still open to the future of streaming,  A Quiet Place Part II and Mission: Impossible 7 will go on the streaming service 45 days after their theatrical release dates.
