Heartbroken mum says family will 'never be the same' after tragic death of tot

A devastated mum says she will be forever haunted by the death of her 'playful and smiley' son and that her family 'will never be the same' after the tragedy.

Latoyah Ibbeson lost her baby boy Emmett nine months ago after he died suddenly in his cot, Nottinghamshire Live reports. The 21-year-old said her heart 'just sank' when she found her toddler cold and unresponsive in the afternoon of May 2 last year.

Recalling the day her life was turned upside down, she said: "It was just a normal afternoon, I was making porridge downstairs and it was my partner who went upstairs to check on Emmett."And he would normally be jumping and laughing whenever he saw my partner, but this time my girlfriend came downstairs and told me that something was not right."I just started shaking and when I saw him, I felt my heart sink and I just went cold."The heartbroken mum said she could not stop crying, and that it was her girlfriend who gave Emmett CPR while Ms Ibbeson's cousin was on the phone to the ambulance.Despite everyone's efforts to bring him back, little Emmett was pronounced dead on the same day."I remember breaking down into tears, I remember falling downstairs, trying to ring my mum and tell her what has just happened."It was the most tragic thing that ever happened to me - the worst feeling in my life."My family will never be the same, and my girlfriend still gets nightmares from it."An inquest into the death of "smiley and playful" toddler took place earlier this week, and witnesses from the Sherwood Forest and Nottingham University hospitals gave evidence.Baby Emmett was diagnosed with Down's syndrome, suspected sepsis and other chronic respiratory problems following his birth on February 5, 2020.Shortly after he was born,
