Harry Maguire's former Hull City team-mate Ahmed Elmohamady has declared the £80million defender isn't fit to captain Manchester United.
The Red Devils' interim manager Ralf Rangnick has stood by Maguire in recent weeks amid calls for him to be stripped of his duties following a poor run of form.
Maguire reportedly held showdown talks with Cristiano Ronaldo over the club's captaincy recently, though the England international dismissed suggestions of a row.
The pair experienced two contrasting outings during Saturday's remarkable 3-2 triumph over Tottenham as Ronaldo scored a stunning hat-trick to bail Maguire out following his hapless own goal. With speculation surrounding the defender's role in this current United side still rife, former team-mate Elmohamady has insisted Maguire doesn't have what it takes to captain the historic club.“Harry was with me in Hull City and, in my opinion, he doesn’t have the level to be the Manchester United captain," the Egyptian international told beIN Sports."Man Utd need a player with a strong personality and I hope that the next manager will give the captaincy to Ronaldo, if he stays."Ronaldo can handle this responsibility and pressure.
