Tottenham and England ace Harry Kane could not “link play” or “hold the ball up” during his loan spell at Norwich City, according to former strike partner, Grant Holt.Considering his current status as one of the best strikers in world football, it is very easy to forget Kane spent a rather unproductive four months on loan in East Anglia.
The Tottenham man was sent to Carrow Road in 2012 for some much needed Premier League experience, only for his spell to be disrupted by frequent injuries. His time alongside Holt was very brief, as he was only able to make three Premier League appearances at Norwich.
But while Holt acknowledged that Kane’s finishing was outstanding, he did not expect the then 18-year-old to become the player he is now.“He was good, but he just got injured - he’d done his knee,” Holt said to the Undr the Cosh podcast in 2018 when he was asked about the striker. “He got in the team, played well, and then he came back into training.“He done his knee and then he had to go back to Spurs, which was a shame for him really.
He was a great guy, and a great kid and his finishing was ridiculous.“In small sided games, he never missed, but would I have ever thought he would have been England captain, absolutely not.
