The shooter arrived in a black Astra and aimed at a group of men on a bridge over the Bridgewater Canal in Boothstown, Salford.
He then got back into the vehicle and escaped. The attack was seen by numerous witnesses but GMP confirmed that the targets of the shooting have yet to come forward and they have appealed to them to do so.
