Gogglebox star Tom Malone opens up on family cancer tragedy in a bid to raise awareness

Gogglebox’s Tom Malone has spoken about how he is walking 11,000 steps a day in order to raise awareness for Prostate Cancer UK, revealing the personal reasons as to why he decided to undertake the challenge.

Tom, 28, explained that four members of his family have had cancer over the years, including two grandads, a great aunt and a cousin.

Speaking to Express.co.uk about the effect it has had on his family, the reality TV star said: "It's something quite close to our hearts." Tom said that looking at those statistics, he remembers the lives of dads, brothers, cousins, uncles and sons who have passed away. "It points out that it can happen to anyone at any time, so you kind of have to make the most of the time you've got," he added. "If there's anything we can do to support the research or help this disease and help people or prolong peoples' lives then you kind of have to do it. "It's something that doesn't get talked about enough."
