Godzilla vs. Kong has reached heady heights with a new pandemic box office record earning it the biggest US opening in 12 months.The Adam Wingard-directed flick raked in $32million (£23m) over the weekend and $48.5m (£35m) Stateside in its first five days of release, steaming miles ahead of Wonder Woman 1984, which took $16.7 (£12m), according to Variety.The movie also made an impressive £170m at the international box office.The success comes after the action film was released on HBO Max and in cinemas at the same time in America.The blockbuster – which stars Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown – follows on from Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla and Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ Kong: Skull Island, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.It’s the epic next.
