GOOD Morning Britain's Kate Garraway has given an update on husband Derek Draper's condition in a new ITV show. The broadcaster, who stars in tonight's episode of DNA Journey, reflects on a tough two years since Derek was first hospitalised with coronavirus.
She says: "2020 was a devastating year. With Derek, he got very sick very early on in the pandemic and has remained very damaged. "That is quite well documented because for a lot of people, he's come to symbolise the fight that goes on." Kate, 55, also praised her ITV colleague Alison Hammond for supporting her through the challenging period.
Last month Derek returned to hospital for a “serious” medical procedure. It was the latest setback in his continued recovery from the illness that ravaged his organs.
Battling Derek, who was first hospitalised in March 2020, had an operation on his kidneys. A source said: “This is another hammer blow for poor Derek.
