Glasgow and Edinburgh have been put on flood alert as thundery showers threaten to cause chaos for Scots later this week. The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has issued five flood alerts across central and southern parts of the country.Ayrshire and Arran, Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders have all been told to brace themselves for potential flooding in addition to the Scotland’s two largest cities.
The alerts came after forecasters issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms in the south of Scotland and across the central belt on Friday and Saturday.
Some parts of the country are expected to be battered by torrential showers, with up to 100mm of rain anticipated to fall in just under 24 hours.The Met Office.
