Her family had been in lockdown, but her mother was allowed out to get some essential items. According to local media, the victim’s mother, who has not been named, had left the house shortly before the attack to do the shopping as permitted under the country's lockdown laws.
During that time, someone broke into the house and reportedly raped and murdered the 13-year-old. According to local media, nothing was stolen.
