BBC's Morning Live presenter told his Instagram followers that because of the pandemic he'd been waiting a while for ankle arthroscopy and lateral ligament reconstruction.He then had to push back his operation after testing positive for Covid over the festive season.The snap showed him beaming at the camera and giving the thumbs up with both hands as he lay on his back with his foot heavily bandaged."A (pain) killer smile after a successful op!" said the star."Been a bit of a wait to get it done 'cos of what's been happening, and then had to cancel 'cos of getting Omicron at Christmas… but I'm delighted to get it sorted."Ankle arthroscopy and lateral ligament reconstruction."He went on: "I'm looking forward to walking down the stairs without pain, going for a run again (eventually)!"But will now have to find another excuse for my bad golf!"Gethin quipped: "The lovely nurse Helen's only question… 'When it's you and Sam on @bbcmorninglive, who's gonna be sat for Strictly Fitness?!'"The star was inundated with get well soon messages from his celebrity friends."Ah hope you are back on your feet soon," actress Samia Longchambon wrote.Presenter Julia Bradbury posted: "Wishing you a speedy recovery lovely."Strictly's Graziano Di Prima told Gethin to "get well soon".
