Gerwyn Price produced a jaw-dropping performance as Wales sent hosts Germany tumbling out of the World Cup of Darts.It has been a tough year for The Iceman, who struggled with injury and form as he finished second-bottom of the Premier League table.

But clearly relishing teaming up with Jonny Clayton for his country, Price’s impressive form in the tournament hit new heights in the quarter-finals on Sunday afternoon.The 2021 world champion blew Martin Schindler away 4-0 in his singles match which was completed in just six minutes and 40 seconds with an incredible average of 117.88 with legs of 15, 10, 12 and 14 darts.

At one stage, near the end of the match, he was averaging 124. Price also added to his growing list of ton-plus finishes in the tournament with a spectacular 170 checkout.

Schindler, who averaged an impressive 104 over the four legs, sportingly applauded his opponent after the winning double.“That’s probably the best I’ve played for a long time,” said Price, who said he had to keep his emotions in check out of respect for the home fans in Frankfurt.“It was difficult.
