As the winter weather is set to get even colder in the next few weeks, more wildlife will struggle to find food. The freezing temperatures overnight and into the day will cause ground to harden, making it difficult for birds to find enough food to eat - especially smaller species like robins.

Synonymous with winter itself, robins are a popular festive motif, adorning everything from Christmas cards, tree ornaments and wrapping paper.

While they may be associated with winter in our collective imaginations, the little birds spend all year singing in our gardens.
