Fugitive 'Iraq war hero' conman who ran £31m scam arrested in FBI raid on Mexican border

Attorney Nick Brown said: “Mr. Costello allegedly told many tall tales to convince victims to invest millions of dollars - money he then used for his own benefit.“In a complex scheme involving shell companies, penny stocks, and financial services for marijuana businesses, Mr.

Costello used Twitter, press releases, securities filings, and claims of great wealth to paint a picture of fabulous financial success.“In truth that picture was a mirage.”Amongst his alleged scams was diverting money from businesses including the Pacific Banking Corp, which provided services to marijuana businesses around the country.Costello also bought two companies that were trading for pennies before renaming them and tricking investors into buying his stock.Prosecutors said that the accused conman spent around £40,000 of stolen funds on.
