Friends have paid tribute to a Manchester mountain climber killed in an avalanche in the Scottish Highlands. Andrew Vine, 41, a mechanical engineer thought to be from Moss Side, went missing on February 28 while climbing Aonach Mor near Ben Nevis in the Scottish Highlands.
Mountain rescuers found his body in a nearby gully on Sunday. Despite being badly injured in the avalanche his climbing partner managed to walk to a nearby snowports centre to raise the alarm.
She is now recovering from her injuries. Friends from Manchester-based Karabiner Mountaineering Club have paid tribute to Mr Vine.
