Frank Lampard has confirmed Thiago Silva and Edouard Mendy will not feature for Chelsea in their Premier League clash with Southampton on Saturday.
Silva and Mendy both joined Lampard’s squad in the summer window, with the former completing a free switch to Stamford Bridge after departing Paris St-Germain upon the expiry of his contract.
As for Senegal goalkeeper Mendy, he completed a £22million move from Rennes to provide competition in between the sticks for struggling star Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The two new Blues signings were on form in their 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace before the international break, yet they will both be unavailable when Southampton visit west London on Saturday.
