Beauty does indeed come at a price. The Miss Ireland competition has come under fire for selling votes to the public for their preferred candidates, following a wave of criticism from former contestants and winners over its ‘outdated’ rules.
Earlier this week, a Miss Dublin finalist hit out at requirements for those entering the Miss Ireland competition, including rules that entrants must be ‘unmarried or never have been married’, and have ‘never given birth to a child’.
Blue Scannell, 19, who is training to be a midwife, entered this year’s competition but pulled out after raising her concerns over the rules with competition organisers.
