Mr Giggs, 47, currently manager of the Welsh national side, appeared before a judge wearing a face mask and navy suit. He is charged with offences of engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour; and assaulting a person occasioning actual bodily harm.
The charges relate to his former partner Kate Greville, 36. It is alleged that between December 2017 and November 2020, Mr Giggs engeged in controlling and coercive behaviour towards her - namely that he used violence, isolation, belittling, humiliation, harassment, degradation and abuse.
