Mkhitaryan signed a one-year extension with Roma after the club appointed Mourinho as manager, despite their variable period together at United.
Mkhitaryan became Mourinho's second signing in a £26.3million move from Borussia Dortmund in 2016 and played a pivotal role in United's Europa League-winning campaign, scoring in the final against Ajax.
However, Mkhitaryan was sold after 18 months to Arsenal in the swap deal that involved Alexis Sanchez moving in the opposite direction.
