Airdrie star Adam Brown admits a chance meeting with Diego Maradona inspired him to kick-on in his football career. The ex-Diamond was just 13 when the football icon thrust him into the spotlight while he was a ball boy at Celtic.
Maradona, who was manager of the Argentinian national team at the time, abruptly stopped training at Parkhead after one of his star players lost a piece of jewellery ahead of their clash with Scotland back in 2008.
A youth player with the Hoops at the time, Brown was asked to search the field for the piece of Fernando Gago’s necklace.When he found it, Maradona lifted the youngster in celebration – and thrust Brown into the world media spotlight.
