Manchester United Treble winner Jonathan Greening earned promotion this season in his first managerial role.Greening often goes under the radar as part of United's historic 1998/99 squad having joined the club from York City at the start of that season.
The former midfielder was named on the bench for their iconic Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich, but struggled for first-team opportunities. After leaving Old Trafford in 2001 he went on to star for Middlesbrough, West Brom and Fulham in the Premier League, before hanging up his boots for good in 2017.
Although his playing days are done and dusted, Greening has recently enjoyed one of the "highlights of his career".The 43-year-old guided Scarborough Athletic to the National League North after a 2-1 play-off final victory over Warrington Town earlier this month.
He said afterwards: "This is definitely up there with one of the highlights of my career."There's been a lot of pressure on us and we've had to win our last five games of the season to get promoted, which is not an easy task in any league."Greening was appointed Scarborough boss last year having got started as a coach following the conclusion of his professional career.
