Footballer Kurt Zouma charged with three animal welfare offences for 'kicking his cat'

West Ham footballer Kurt Zouma has been charged with three offences under the Animal Welfare Act for allegedly harming his cat.

In February, the 27 year old defender was allegedly filmed slapping and kicking his pet cat in a video which was uploaded to Snapchat by his brother Yoan.

He is accused of two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal and one count of breaching animal welfare duty.

His brother Yoan, 23, who plays for Dagenham and Redbridge in the National League, will also appear in court having been charged with two counts of 'aiding and abetting' animal cruelty.The brothers are expected to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
