Diego Maradona's 'Hand of God' shirt for £7.1million last week has earned it a place in the top five most valuable pieces of football memorabilia.New research from OLBG has ranked the most expensive items of football memorabilia, with Maradona's shirt coming out on top following it's sale at auction.

Maradona had swapped shirts with England's Steve Hodge after scoring twice in their quarter-final at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.The Argentine legend famously scored by punching the ball over Peter Shilton before adding a second with a stunning solo run just moments later.Following the sale, Maradona's shirt is now the most expensive item of football memorabilia at over eight times the value of the next most expensive item.Second on the list is the Football Rulebook from 1863, which fetched £887,333 when it was sold.

The book lays out the initial laws of the game following the sport's creation and the formation of the FA.The 1912 version of the FA Cup is in third at £482,092, having previously been owned by West Ham United co-owner David Gold.
