But the match was filled with controversy as the 27-year-old received a code violation for raging at the umpire.Greek star Tsitsipas also earned a place on the naughty list as he lost his head and hit a ball into the stands during the second set, earning his own warning and point penalty.

It came after he swore and repeatedly demanded Tsitsipas be defaulted for smacking the ball into the crowd. Yet Tsitsipas’ £8,200 fine dwarfed that - matching the previous biggest fine of the tournament received by Kyrgios himself in the first round.
