Spain is in danger of being added to the so-called 'amber plus' list alongside France amid concerns over the Beta variant, according to reports.
The country recorded 162 positive cases that have been attributed to the mutant strain of Covid in the weekend to July 1. That figure is said to represent 8.8% of infections recorded on GISAID, which maps variants of concern.Concerns are growing over the prevalence of the Beta variant, which was first discovered in South Africa.Early studies suggest that the strain could potentially evade some protections offered by the vaccines currently approved for use.
On Saturday, the Scottish Government announced that all travellers - including those that have been fully vaccinated - will have to self-isolate.
