Family of Brit tourist 'decapitated' by helicopter deny claims he 'caused his own death'

The loved ones of Jack Fenton, 22, have strongly condemned reports that the death was his fault and have vented frustration at authorities for making it sound so.A helicopter’s rota tail reportedly came into contact with the Brit as he was getting off it in Athens, Greece, on Tuesday (July 26) as he returned to the mainland from Mykonos.READ MORE: Brit tourist, 22, 'decapitated' by propeller of helicopter while 'taking selfie'The rota blade was spinning at up to 500 times per second and would have been almost invisible.Greek police have reportedly arrested two pilots and a member of the ground crew, who have been released under investigation, and are said to be facing negligent homicide charges.The Bell 407’s pilot, named as Christos Fragkopanagos, is said to be “deeply traumatised”.Local authorities claimed that Fenton had run back to the helicopter after being escorted away from it to a private lounge to take a photograph.

Speaking to the Sun, a police source said: "We are examining every eventuality, including the possibility of the boy going there to take a selfie in the excitement of the moment." But friends who were with Fenton and saw him die, have strongly disputed that this is true.Jack Stanton-Gleaves, 20, Max Savage, 20, and James Yeabsley, 19, who were with him at the horrific moment have all been described as ‘traumatised’ but have actively tried to set the record straight about how the tragedy played out.In a statement shared to the Telegraph, Stanton-Gleaves said: “No instructions were given when exiting the helicopter and no-one escorted us to the lounge.
