weather this week — but maybe not in the way most would have hoped.Remnants of Tropical Storm Alex will make land in the next few days, bringing rain and high winds to many areas.Data from WXcharts shows the first wave of adverse weather arriving as early as today (June 7), with the 'tail' of the storm pushing heavy rainfall of up to 6mm an hour from the southwest across the entire length of the country.

By Thursday (June 9) a 'spiral' formation typical of a tropical storm can be seen in the Atlantic Ocean near the British Isles, resulting in more heavy rain on the west coast of Scotland.Thankfully, it looks like it the worst of the storm will pass to the north of the UK, with some of the front reaching the south coast Iceland before dissipating.The Met Office has meanwhile warned that the second half of the week will be characterised by high winds and rain thanks to the incoming fallout of the storm.Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Adam Thornhill said: “The low-pressure on Wednesday will bring showers to most areas of the UK, but the heaviest, slow-moving downpours are expected in northern areas, including Northern Ireland, with a chance of associated thunder and lightning.
