Queen of the Palace is now the Queen of Blackpool after landing the inaugural Women's World Matchplay at the Winter Gardens.Fallon Sherrock overcame a high quality field to secure the first ever PDC Women's World Matchplay title - and with it the £10,000 first prize.It has not been the best of years for Sherrock, who lost in the first round of the World Darts Championship and subsequently failed to gain a PDC Tour Card in January.

She also failed to qualify for the UK Open and suffered an embarrassing first round defeat to unknown Leonard Gates in the US Darts Masters. And she continued her good form on the women's circuit in some style in Blackpool on Sunday. The bookies' favourite going into the event, Sherrock lived up to her odds as she dispatched youngster Katie Sheldon 4-2 and Lorraine Winstanley 5-2 to set up a meeting with Aileen de Graaf in the final.Sherrock might have expected to meet Lisa Ashton in the showpiece match, but De Graaf pulled out all of the stops to win their semi-final 5-4.But there was nothing the Dutchwoman could do in the final as Sherrock produced a dominant performance, including two 180s and an 82.41 average, to create another slice of history.
