Formula One race director Michael Masi is still at risk of being sacked despite Monday's inconclusive talks between the organisation's chiefs.
The future of Masi has been in doubt since the controversial end to the 2021 season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix back in December.Masi's decision to allow the cars between title rivals Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen to unlap themselves allowed the latter to overtake Hamilton on the final lap and claimed the Drivers' Championship.There has been considerable backlash to the incident since, with F1 engineers even demanding that Masi be sacked as a result of his decision.However, his future currently remains unclear following the start of an FIA inquiry into the incident, as the sport's chiefs met in London on Monday.Mercedes chief Toto Wolff and his Red Bull counterpart Christian Horner were both present at F1 headquarters at St James' Market as they awaited the outcome.Masi is also said to have been present although it is believed that the first day of the talks was inconclusive.Speaking to the PA news agency, a source said: “The meeting was inconclusive.
