At least 1,000 care home residents who died of coronavirus have been skipped from official government statistics, industry chiefs claim.
Care England say the official figures for care home fatalities being reported are dramatically lower than the true figure, with The Office for National Statistics stating only 20 people died in care homes across the whole of England and Wales in the week to 27 March.
