The UK's coronavirus death toll could reach 100,000 by the end of the year if the country exits lockdown too soon, an expert who advises the Government has warned.
Professor Neil Ferguson claimed no country has been able to successfully shield society's most vulnerable to the virus while allowing everyone else to go back to normal.
He said social distancing would need to remain in place until a vaccine is available. But UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab today said this wasn't likely to happen until 2021.
