Daniel Strongitharm, 35, attacked the woman in her own home as she slept on her sofa in the early hours of the morning. She punched him to try and get him off her, but he told her: “I’m nearly finished anyway”.

A week after his first rape, he returned to her house at 6am and knocked on the door to wake her, Minshull Street Crown Court heard.

After she opened the door, he then followed her into her house and raped her again. Strongitharm, of Oldham, had tried to rape his victim a month earlier after he forced his way in to her home and pinned her down, the court heard.
