Ewan McGregor has revealed that he had a newfound sense of "joy and happiness and peace" following sobriety. The Scottish actor admitted that he had struggled with alcohol issues in the past but has now been sober for over two decades.

The 50-year-old plays fashion designer Roy Halston in his new TV series Halston. The story shows how the American nearly lost everything when he became addicted to alcohol.

He had also previously portrayed a heroin addict in the 1996 film Trainspotting, although he didn't have addiction issues until after filming.

And Ewan discussed addiction with Pedro Pascal for Variety's Actors on Actors series. He admitted that he never thought he'd end up addicted to alcohol but has been sober since 2000.
