An 'evil' man who caused a 14-month-old toddler permanent brain damage has been sentenced to 16 years in prison. Michael Aubrey was jailed at Coventry Crown Court on Thursday (November 25) after pleading guilty to wounding with intent, Chronicle Live reports.

The young boy was under the 34-year-old's care at the time of the incident back in March 2018. When his mother arrived at the house in Nuneaton, she found her child unconscious and suffering from a fit on the floor.

The offender was the only other person in the property at the time the injuries were caused and was questioned by police after doctors stated that they were not accidental.He denied causing the injuries until the day before his trial when he finally pleaded guilty to
