Euro 2020 as UEFA takes a hardline stance. It was announced on Sunday that a group of 12 clubs have agreed on a plan to break away from the Champions League format to form a so-called Super League.
It would see 15 permanent members compete regardless of their domestic results, effectively killing the idea of qualifying by meritocracy.
Six clubs from the English Premier League have signed on to the plans, as well as teams from Italy and Spain. UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has come out fighting, threatening to ban players from the 12 clubs from competing in his organisation's competitions.
And the Slovenian wants to bring that sanction in time for Euro 2020.Ceferin said: "We're still assessing the situation with our legal team.
