Milan. A group of 12 European clubs announced plans for a breakaway on Sunday, envisioning a 20 team league that would have 15 permanent members.
The plan has long been the dream of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, with Barcelona joining their arch-rivals in the proposed breakway.
England's big six also got on board, as well as Italy's three biggest clubs Juventus, Milan and Inter. But reaction was overwhelmingly negative and not just with fans.
Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson made clear his opposition and insisted he had nothing to do with the decision to sign up.
