Erik ten Hag is said to be so keen on building a full picture of his Manchester United playing squad that he wants to know where they are going on holiday before the new Premier League season.

Described as being 'meticulous' the 52-year-old former Ajax boss looks to be following in the footsteps of Sir Alex Ferguson by knowing about the private lives of his players, and is also said to have exchanged WhatsApp messages with a handful of stars.

United players, who are required to be back at training on June 27, have quietly headed out on their holidays following United's dismal Premier League return of just 58 points.The Mirror report that Ten Hag has 'demanded' to know where his players are off to on their holidays, as well as be keen to learn about their families and home life.

The report adds that Ten Hag wants his players back for pre-season two weeks early in a bid to boost their dire need for major silverware next season.Players are said to have been told that they need to stay in the peak condition while abroad and to prepare for a demanding pre-season schedule.
