Energy advice service urges people not to panic over fears more firms may collapse this week

more firms may go bust this week. Advice Direct Scotland, which runs energyadvice.scot, said regulator Ofgem will ensure that any households affected will be automatically switched to a new supplier with no loss of energy and no loss of any money owed.

Bill payers have also been advised not to immediately switch to another energy firm if their supplier collapses or cancel any direct debits set up to pay fuel bills as Ofgem will automatically move customers to a new supplier.

Once they have been moved then they can compare the market and switch if they choose to do so. However, with gas prices on the rise, there are additional concerns about the overall financial impact on consumers.
