The Premier League is fairly short of quality nicknames as it stands, though there may be plenty that simply have not emerged from the dressing rooms yet. Daily Star takes a look at eight of the funniest nicknames. Former striker Shefki Kuqi spent plenty of time in the Premier League and gained a lot of support during that time too.
But it was not the ex-Finland international’s ability that made him somewhat of a cult hero.Kuqi was known as ‘The Flying Finn’ due to how he would jump forwards with both arms out, in a belly flop-like motion, onto the floor when he scored.
The celebration became typical of Kuqi, and it stuck with him ever since Match of the Day picked up on it on several occasions.Andoni Goikoetxea earned himself the nickname of ‘Butcher of Berlin’ for one of the worst tackles in football history.
