Walsall Football Club will change their ground's name from the Banks's Stadium to Poundland Bescot Stadium, after a new three-year partnership was agreed with the retailer.Banks's, which is part of Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company, held the first sponsorship of the club's ground since 2007.
But their partnership is now due to finish at the end of the current season.Poundland, who had been the club's commercial partners since early 2020, will be sponsoring Walsall's shirts and feature on the Saddlers' two-tier stand.
The strips which will be manufactured by partners Errea for the sixth season, will feature the Black Country flag inside the neck of the shirt and will have 'The Saddlers' written across the front.Poundland, who have more than 850 stores in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, started their business in the West Midlands in the same year Walsall moved from Fellows Park to Bescot, in 1990.
After agreeing a three-year deal, the Saddlers said it would be the 'largest commercial partnership' in its history. But some fans were fuming over the decision, with one saying: "We’re all mostly from Walsall.
